Exhaust is here (well almost)!!

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

The nice lady from UPS came by today around 14:30 and dropped off my new exhaust. I won't be putting it in until tomorrow, but as an offering to the OPPO masses, I made a little teaser video of the stock exhaust. If you can make it to 0:39 you might even get a lol.

In preparation for the exhaust arriving I scoured the local parts stores to find an inexpensive (but safe) jack and jack stands. A short drive and $60 later I got these babies!

Cheap, yes, probably going to break, maybe (so long as I'm not under the car when it does). But for a driveway mechanic it'll do.

Now, as for the video:

-Shot on a 5DmkII

-Sigma 50mm f/1.4 lens

-Manfrotto 290 series tripod (it was on sale at Costco)

-Rode shotgun microphone on the hotshoe

Nothing particularly fancy or special, but fun to take out and mess around with from time to time. Once I get the exhaust in I'll shot some fresh vittles for you OPPOnauts to snack on. Something of the angry 3" cat-back variety. I've got plans, don't you worry.

As for the exhaust vapors in this video, it was cold out (about 4 degrees Celsius), Mazda tells me white vapors are normal and even tested the exhaust for me, came up all green. Incomplete combustion from a cold engine.

The build up on the exhaust tips? Magnesium. Alberta uses Magnesium Chloride on the roads to keep the ice in check. Combine that with the soot from a turbo motor and a heavy right foot and well.... you get build up. I've taken a toothbrush to it, but I think I need and oxidizer like CLR to really get it off. However, that doesn't matter now since the new exhaust is here!!

Hey, come on, the Speed 3's exhaust isn't THAT quiet stock.

Hell, my SKYACTIV 3 loaner I had sounded louder than your clip's.

I can promice you that I did nothing to alter the audio clips. The camera was about 6 feet away, it was windy out, but I did nothing to the audio in post. Scouts honour.
